Dr. Shafie Karimin
Dr. Shafie Karimin specializes in stratergic & project planning and project management system approach to project implementation. At present he is a Vice President (Project Management) of KLIA Consult and the Executive Director of KLIA Strategic Planning Sdn. Bhd., a sister company that specializes in providing stratergic & project planning and project management training services.
Prior to joining KLIA Berhad in 1996 as the General Manager for Planning, QA and IT Services, he was a Lectures at University Technology Malaysia (UTM). He heads the B.Sc. in Building / Construction program when it started in 1998 and was instrumental in setting the high standard recognized by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) UK.
His core discipline while at the university was construction technology, construction management and project management. He holds a doctorate from University of London, completing a thesis on heuristic decision-making and decision behavior of top management executives in the construction industry and the conversion of his knowledge into a computer aided decision-making support system using fuzzy-logic. He continues to contribute actively to the academia as guest lecturer and giving advice through appointment as external examiner. He is also active as a speaker for seminars and conferences.
He was the past secretary of the Malaysian Chapter of the Project Management Institute and the Pro-team secretary for the Institution on Project Management Malaysia with specific interest in the develoment of project management as a professional practise in the construction industry.
