Welcome to KLIA Premier Holdings, the investment holding company and the parent of a group of companies under the K.L.I.A flagship. We originally started as Kuala Lumpur International Airport Berhad (KLIA Berhad) in May 1993 a company incorporated under the Malaysian government’s Ministry of Finance, and we had only one mission: To develop the 10 x 10 km palm plantation area in Sepang into a world class airport with the first opening phase targeting 25 million passengers per annum. All this had to be delivered within the budget and the specified time frame. The airport was due to be opened in 1998.
A combination of clear leadership and strong commitment from the team were the main ingredients to ensure the delivery of the project within its specified constraints. With the airport a success, the government then made the decision to keep the team. For the years since the airport had opened, it has been recognized as one of the best in the world in terms of quality from the facilities available as well as quality of services. The team was called upon to continue to build on its expertise and contribute towards other large scale projects in Malaysia and bid to spread its wings beyond the country.
Hence with the government’s blessings, we privatised our expertise into a new corporate entity known as KLIA Consultancy Services in 1999, specialising in Project Management and Technical Consultancy services.
